Still, if you have any of these symptoms, see a doctor   A high percentage of renal cell carcinomas are diagnosed when an ultrasound is performed for other purposes.

2014-11-01 · Hypernephroma (renal adenocarcinoma) is the most common primary malignant tumor in adults, comprising 80% of all malignant renal tumors. It usually affects people between 40 and 60 years of age. The male-to-female ratio is 2:1 and the etiology is unknown. An estimated 20 to 50% of hypernephromas are associated with Von Hippel-Lindau disease.

Rusche (1953) observed hypernephroma in 2 brothers. Both had distant metastasis as the first manifestation and both were in their early thirties at the time of diagnosis. Brinton (1960) described a family in which 2 brothers and a sister had hypernephroma.

Twenty-six cases of renal artery stenosis were evaluated with Doppler ultrasound using the pulsatile flow index (PFI). To establish normal values, the PFI in 60 renal arteries in 30 healthy volunteers was obtained. Normal values by PFI ranged between 0.48 and 0.71 (mean ± SD: 0.6 ± 0.06). In renal artery stenosis the PFI range was 0.72–0.79. The normal upper limit was 0.71. The PFI failed

85% of all malignant kidney tumors. Other forms are the urothelium carcinoma originating from the renal pelvis (10 %), non-Hodgkin lymphomas, sarcomas, and the nephroblastomas occurring in childhood (Wilms' tumor).

The recommended treatment for Renal Cell Cancer or Hypernephroma usually is nephrectomy or excision of the kidney. This may entail removal of the bladder, adjacent tissues, and lymph nodes. A definite cure for Renal Cell Cancer/Hypernephroma is quite unlikely unless and until the cancerous cells are completely removed from the body.

Up to 3% of normal, thin, people have a palpable spleen. Also, a palpable left upper quadrant mass may indicate a problem other than an enlarged spleen such as a hypernephroma. 1982-12-01 · Ultrasound revealed polycystic kidney disease accurately in 24 patients (100 per cent) and neoplasm in 16 of 18 (89 per cent) with radiologically nonfunctioning kidneys with or without a palpable mass (table 4). Of the latter 16 patients 10 had hypernephroma, 2 had transitional cell carcinoma and 4 had Wilms tumor.

An estimated 20 to 50% of hypernephromas are associated with Von Hippel-Lindau disease. Ultrasound demonstrated the solid character of three hypovascular renal masses which were equivocal on nephrotomography and arteriography with intra‐arterial vasoconstrictors. These cases illustrate the value of ultrasound, a noninvasive procedure, in the pre‐operative evaluation of hypovascular hypernephromas.
